Baker Hughes – Pigging Suitability Evaluation

Client: Baker Hughes Energy Technology UK Ltd

Project:

Pigging Suitability Evaluation

Overview

We were asked to review the design of a newly installed system offshore India, which included a flexible riser and a multi-diameter subsea carbon steel pipework.

Considering the materials and diameter changes, we were also asked to review the pigging suitability associated with three proposed tools:

  1.    Gauge plate inspection
  2.    Ultrasonic metal loss inspection
  3.    Ultrasonic crack detection

The Approach

We worked with each proposed pigging vendor to investigate the following:

A summary report was written reviewing each solution, identifying areas of concern and making recommendations to support further validation.

Results

We provided Baker Hughes with an evaluation of the solution for the entire system and identified any areas of concern where further work may be required.

Frontline Integrity supported Baker Hughes on this high profile consortium project to prove the integrity and compliance of our existing water injection riser design with proposed operating philosophy that included pigging requirements, the quality and technical expertise of the team is industry leading and extremely professional
